Innovation may come from small groups and individual, but globalization with the concentration of joined corporations and organisations contributes to empower these sources of innovation and therefore their appropriate focus appears of a key interest to our progress, which is not merely limited by resources dedicated to innovation; correspondent politics, from corporations and governments, and specially of education, plays a key role in determining the focus where addressing innovation efforts.
These politics appears very often oriented just to the benefit (economical, political, etc) in the short to medium term, which may mean the lack of long term profitability for the own company/organisation and for our society (E.g. current financial crisis)
The future of innovation opens the dimension of improving its focus to the outcome of serving the best to the progress for our society and the general interest. In our vision there are certain steps in key areas that would imply significant innovation, relevant to our progress:
Education practices comprising philanthropy ethics, emotional evolution and self-growth; not just culture and knowledge.
At the end we, politicians, managers, bank CEO´s, etc behave according to our education and evolution but being influenced by our environment, so that the building of a proper social and individual criteria through education is of capital interest for our attitudes and behaviour, which determines the boundaries of our society in any aspect, including innovation, more than any other factor. This is the virtuosity or vicious circle between education and innovation, depending on whether innovation efforts are focussed on education:
“We cannot solve a problem with the same mental attitude that created it”
Or
Delta Education <-> Delta Innovation.
Impulse of key Socio, Science-Techno areas bringing relevant improvements to the progress for our Society.
Specially those to cover lack of basic needs and general interest: government management practices, cooperation to support develop of 3rd world, etc. Because the capability of resources on earth is enough to cover basic needs of population; the matter is in its management. There is no real Democracy in governments which does not apply efficient management to cover basic needs of general interest, because Democracy means government of people and thus priority to their basic general interest.
This also includes the impulse to those areas affecting the most to our quality and sustainable development; the increasing demand issues (Mega-trends): climate/pollution, energy, water, transportation, genetics for food and health, etc
E.g. concerning transportation, UGVs: unmanned ground vehicles, would mostly eradicate accidents (saving hundreds of thousand lives worldwide in just a year), would reduce emissions and increase transport efficiency; therefore improving our quality of life. Furthermore they can be performed today! (1).
Strategic innovation plan and practices for our long term progress development.
Our R+D+I rather advances with the synergy of already existing technology up to 70´s, than with new significant steps. This is not rare considering the R+D politics coming from public and private government practices basically oriented to the short/medium term outcome.
Significant steps came from R+D politics before 70´s: e.g. Space race, electronic computer, nuclear fission energy, electronic based in solid state technology, etc. The need nowadays is to retake the significant steps for our future: e.g. Space/Universe exploring and knowledge, develop of robotics to achieve human assistants, nuclear fusion, etc, which also brings along its road, medium term breakthrough innovative applications.
To sum up, we need to empower innovative efforts focussed in us, our education, our practices of government and management, to the significant improvement of our world. And please remember: “We cannot solve a problem with the same mental attitude that created it” Is time to practice this to the proper addressing of our future!
