The future of innovation lies in the reduction of time for generating knowledge and its use by society. The historical sequence that innovation is born in academic research to the view that it rises out of the enterprise tends to be, ever more, that innovation is born out of the market.
My view deals with management and generation of knowledge with emphasis in the solution of society and people’s well-being problems, and employs as a quality yardstick the proper utilization of knowledge generated by society itself.
It will be necessary, for this to happen, the integration of laboratories and departments in a region in a constant flow of professional personnel training and of knowledge production with the setting up of competitive enterprises addressed to a sector, which fosters local economic and social development.
City and region planners shall carry out the optimization of local knowledge/culture. Based on need and feasibility of economic sectors and on availability (not necessarily all) of knowledge in training centers. With information, they shall find the vision for community development.
The greatest efficiency of this process shall take place when full utilization of knowledge by society occurs. A good example of knowledge by society generation and use was Pasteur’s mobilizations for farms to put in place a minimum of hygiene conditions when he developed the pasteurization process. That is, he extended his laboratory to the farms.
The reversal of the process of encouragement of knowledge, reducing the distance between the generation, accumulation of knowledge and its use by society, shall bear as consequence the reduction of product or service generation time by the Industry/University interaction.
In other words, in the future we will train professionals who will have job opportunities (minimum unemployment), who need minimal training by companies (minimum waste of time), and who may produce new goods and services in the processes they will take part in (innovation), by transferring knowledge from the university and generating constant improvements in society’s life quality.
As we will depend on the entrepreneur’s interaction capacity, a point of connection between the generation and use of knowledge, the school will have to train him in his relations with different environments.
A relationship with oneself or with the internal environment – this relationship is the one in which an individual searches for an internal reward by the acknowledgement of what he is able to perform, of feeling oneself important. After fulfilling his material needs, the entrepreneur will need to continue solving his spiritual needs. His vision.
Relationship with the social context, or the surrounding environment – the surrounding environment where he lived and lives. The family the district ,the city. In ecosistema which will encourage the person to know, to be curious, to relate oneself and to discuss the subjects of the world, of novelty. The news from the daily life (experience) which complements knowledge beyond that which comes from formal education . Discovery by experience. Life quality.
Relationship with the external environment, or outsider environment, or environment which the country provides to the development of companies and enterprises. This environment is linked to the competitiveness of nations in providing competitiveness conditions to enterprises for their performing. This is linked to the strategy, which shall be used to put in place the entrepreneur’s view. The variables of this relationship are based on the performance of the economy, on governmental efficiency, on the efficiency of business and on the available infrastructure. The generated opportunities.
Relationship with the company environment or professional relational environment – The entrepreneur will attempt to reach his objectives by relating himself with the persons who may help him reach his objective, finding his group or his crowd. Understanding people and respecting the others, enabling him to partake in this innovative environment. The relationship with technology, market knowledge, production control, and management process. Inovation and knowhow.
